Free Playstation 2 PS2 Slimline
SCPH-7000x Laser Installation Guide

Flip your ps2 over, remove the screw covers and screws as shown
#0 screwdriver bit works best.
Crack open lid, it snaps together tightly, starting at back and open the back
about 20 Degrees
and gently wiggle it away from the power switch / front because the switch
breaks off if you
open this PS2 from the front. Do not pry with screwdrivers or internal damage
will occur.

Once Inside remove 4 screws that hold the laser assembly in place.
Gently remove cables A and C by gently pulling straight up on them.
Make a careful note which way they need to be put back in. Cable B stays
connected.

Slide the laser all the way away from the disk motor and carefully flip over
the whole
assembly. Take note of exactly how far the cable is plugged into the laser
currently.
Carefully lift the brown cable clip built into the laser, lift it about 45
degrees
using a fingernail or flat blade screwdriver (yellow circle). Another laser is
shown
so you can see what it looks like closed. Open the cable locking clip on the new
laser then
wiggle the old cable into the new laser. It should be perfectly straight and
plugged in the same distance as the old part.
Give the cable a gentle tug after you close the clip down and it should be
securely locked into the laser.
Put the Cables A and C back in. Transfer the 4 rubber shock mounts from the
old part then
Install the 4 screws, they strip out easily so no too tight.
Testing:

Hook up the TV and power and load a disk , press the lid interlock switches
with your fingers
or tape and turn on the power, the disks should all load now or your cables are
not on correctly.
(lid switches are shown in yellow circles in above photos)
To get the lid back on, make sure the power switch is seated correctly in the
plastic cutouts
like the second picture above, put the lid on at 45 degrees tilt starting with
the front lined up
and then wiggle closed down in the back, kind of rotate it around the power
switch so it
does not break the little on/off button off the little circut board.
